JANUARY 10 - Baptism: We will be celebrating the baptism of Naomi Mabel, daughter of Michael and Maria Nagtegaal and sister to Sophia.  Naomi was born on November 23, 2015. 

 

JANUARY 17 - Baptism: We will be celebrating the baptism of NoelleCatherine Elise, daughter of Joel and Jennifer Nagtegaal.  Noelle was born on December 14, 2015.

 

JANUARY 25—Neighbourhood Dinner: 6pm Come out and bring your friends to a delicious meal of Shepherd’s Pie.  If you can help with set up or clean up please contact Joanna DeVriesatJoanna@devco.ca.

 

JANUARY 31 - Congregational Meeting: following the Sunday morning service.  At this meeting the financial statements from last year will be approved and members will be updated on what’s happening at the Bridge. 

 

December 2015

DECEMBER 6 - Christmas Hamper items will be displayed on wreathes on Sunday, December 6th. We encourage people to grab a star with an item for the Christmas Hamper. These items will be collected on December 13th and 20th and the Christmas Hamper will be delivered on Monday, December 21st.. Also, if there are no remaining unclaimed items left for the Christmas Hamper and you are looking for a way to participate, the deacons and Neighborhood Dinner team are looking to collect $5 Tim Horton's gift cards to handout to our neighbors in need at the January Neighborhood Dinner.

 

DECEMBER 14—Neighbourhood Christmas Dinner 6pm This will be a catered dinner for the church and neighbourhood.  If you can help with set up or clean up please contact Joanna DeVriesatJoanna@devco.ca.

 

DECEMBER 20—Sunday School Christmas Play!  The Sunday School kids will be performing their Christmas drama during the service.   Following the service we will celebrate the church Christmas Potluck.

November 2015

NOVEMBER 5 - Praying with the Prayer Books: 7:30pm at the church A group of people meet on the first Monday of the month to explore and debrief the experience of praying with prayer books.  Anyone is free to join at any time.

This is an opportunity to be led in prayer, every morning and evening.  We will experiment using different prayer books, each of which have found a treasured place among Christians.   We will meet once a month to debrief the experience of praying with the particular book of that month, and then introduce the next book for the coming month.  The hope is that after a year of praying this way, we will have found that our prayer life, and more importantly our relationship with Christ, has been deeply and profoundly enriched.

 

NOVEMBER 8: Peter Fish will be collected.  Simply bring your Peter Fish to the service and the Deacons will be there to collect them before and after the service.

 

NOVEMBER 23:  Warm Clothing Drive:  Throughout the month of November, The Bridge is accepting new/used warm clothing, in good condition, to be distributed at the neighbourhood dinner on November 23rd.  To find out more about donating or to volunteer for distributing the clothing, please speak with one of the deacons or email brandon.kinsey@student.ufv.ca.  Thank you.

OCTOBER 11: Peter Fish will be handed out to all the children.  These orange banks are intended to help you to remember Jesus’ compassion and care for hungry people and to inspire you to your own acts of compassion.  One way is to fill the fish banks with your change and bring them back to church on November 8, 2015. 

OCTOBER 11:  Special Offering:  Traditionally at Thanksgiving, we at The Bridge give thanks for God’s abundance by giving abundantly to others.  As in past years, a second basket will be passed this Sunday for the Thanksgiving offering; the proceeds will gotowards the neighbourhood Christmas dinner.

OCTOBER 20, 21: Fall Classis Meeting:  Pray for our delegates as they gather with other CRC delegates from this region

OCTOBER 29, 30, 31:  Faith Care Conference - Learning How to Grow Restorative Churches is a 3-day skill based conference teaching restorative practices at Willoughby CRC, Langley, BC.  Pastor Dan Roukema and Sophie Nagtegaal will be attending this conference. 

OCTOBER 31: Hallowe’en:  We are looking for volunteers to hand out candy, serve warm drinks and connect with those in our community.  We are looking for a minimum of four volunteers.  If you are interested in participating, or would like more information, please speak with one of the deacons or contact Brandon Kinsey at brandon.kinsey@student.ufv.ca

SEPTEMBER 28—Sunday School Parent and Volunteer Meeting 7:30pm—8:45pm at the church.  The number of children attending the Sunday School program continues to grow.  We are requesting all Sunday School volunteers and at least one parent from every family with a child in Sunday School come out for an evening of dessert and tea to have a conversation around ‘everything you need to know about Sunday School’.

 

Interim Worship Director Needed

We are looking for a person/persons to serve as an interim worship director for 9 months, beginninon September 20, while Luke Bosma is away.  There is a hard copy of a job description located on the brown table at the back of the church.  If you are interested, or have any questions, please contact current board chair Dirk Ottevangers (dottevangers@gmail.com).  We also want to thank Luke for serving in this role!  Blessings as you further your education, Luke!

The neighbourhood BBQ will be held on Monday, JULY 21st at 6pm.  Come out  and bring your friends!  If you can come early to help set or stay late to clean up, that would be appreciated.

Everyone is invited to a BBQ after church on Sunday June 1st to show appreciation to our many volunteers who serve our community in various way throughout the year!

Burgers will be flipped and salad will be provided by Board members!
