Matthew 28

“Do not be afraid”

Matthew places the story of the resurrection in the context of human darkness and corruption.  And so the message of the angels to us, in light of the resurrection blooming here in the midst of darkness, is: "do not be afraid".

Scripture: Acts 7

“The murder of Stephen: On what hill will you die?”

Stephen dies proclaiming that Jesus reigns over all the earth…that to worship Jesus as Lord is how to be a  faithful Israelite.

Stephen dies for the one thing that matters, the one thing that ought to unite us as the people of God, the one thing under which all other things take lower ground.
