This week we welcome Dena Nicolai, a Chaplain and Refugee Support Mobilizer in Vancouver. Dena works with churches and other groups in BC to help welcome and settle refugees. Through travels and people she meets, Dena bring a unique lens to how she sees God at work in the world.
Dena is originally from Edmonton, Alberta, and is currently completing her M.A. in Theological Studies at Regent College. She is a member of First CRC Vancouver, where she spent two years on staff as their Community Connections Coordinator, helping the congregation find ways to connect with their neighbours and neighbourhoods.
Prior to moving to Vancouver she lived for four years in the Middle East, based in Cairo, Egypt, where her work included organizing and facilitating numerous interfaith and intercultural dialogue events between North American university students and people from various countries across the Middle East. Her time in Cairo also involved volunteer work with two different refugee organizations, primarily assisting people seeking refuge from other countries in Africa.
