SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 9

Too often in life it seems that God is silent, that prayers go unanswered and we find ourselves overwhelmed with life's situations.  However, in the Gospel of John, Jesus is called “Word" and “life."  Join us his Sunday as we take a look at this interesting paradox, of how God is so often silent but yet comes to us as Word.

SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 2

As we wish summer a fold farewell and begin the transition into the busy September season, we will spend time this Sunday reflecting on how to remember and practice our identity as people of God when the craziness of life begins to fly.  Join us as we take a deep breath together in what for many people is a very stressful time.

SUNDAY AUGUST 26

This coming Sunday we welcome guest speaker Anthonie Jansen. Anthonie will be preaching on Matthew 14: 22-36 (see text below) and the title of the sermon is "Rough Seas." Hope to see you there!

Jesus Walks on the Water

22 Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd. 23 After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. Later that night, he was there alone, 24 and the boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it.

25 Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. 26 When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear.

27 But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”

28 “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”

29 “Come,” he said.

Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”

31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”

32 And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. 33 Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”

34 When they had crossed over, they landed at Gennesaret. 35 And when the men of that place recognized Jesus, they sent word to all the surrounding country. People brought all their sick to him 36 and begged him to let the sick just touch the edge of his cloak, and all who touched it were healed.

SUNDAY AUGUST 19

This Sunday we welcome guest preacher Pastor Peter Stellingwerff! Peter will be preaching on Luke 15: 1-2 & 11-24:

We often identify with the lostness of the two  sons in these parables and on being found by the loving Father.  Is Jesus, however, calling us to  identify with something greater in the parables of Luke 15?

Hope to see you there!

SUNDAY AUGUST 12

Often in times of grief and suffering our natural instinct is to isolate ourselves—we stop going out, stop going to church, and we don’t want to let people in. But Psalms 42 & 43 give us a different pattern, showing us the role that a community of believers can play on our behalf in times of difficulty.  Join us as we look at this path from sorrow to support in community.

SUNDAY MAY 20

This Sunday we celebrate Pentecost, the coming of the Spirit to empower the church for God’s mission in the world. To signify this we have joined with ten other local churches all agreeing to reflect on Acts 1:1-8, and also agreeing to spend time in prayer for each other. This service will truly be a practise of the unifying work of the Spirit!

SUNDAY MAY 13

This Sunday (reminder: it's Mothers Day!) will conclude our sermon series on calling and gifting. In light of that, we are going to do something a bit different.  Instead of a regular sermon we are going to participate in a spiritual gifts exercise and discussion.  This will be a casual environment where we can come to a deeper understanding of God’s work in our life and how he may be calling us to serve.

SUNDAY MAY 6

Join us this week Sunday as we focus on the different ways that God has “graced/wired/gifted” us to serve in his kingdom.  We will be focusing on the gifting list in Rom. 12:6-8.  The message this week will lay the ground work for next week, May 13th, when we will spend out time together discovering the gifts we each have!

SUNDAY APRIL 29

Most often we equate God’s grace with our salvation and protection, rarely do we think of it having to do with our calling and gifting.  However, not only are we "saved by grace,” but in fact we are also "gifted by grace!!”  Join us this Sunday as we reflect on God’s “gifting grace” given to each one of us!

SUNDAY APRIL 22

Often times we act as if worship only happens on Sunday mornings or in our car when we fire up a “worship" playlist, but Romans 12 gives us a much broader vision of worship.  This coming Sunday we will reflect on how our calling and gifting is part of our living, daily worship. Hope to see you there!
