Throughout Advent this year, we will be looking at gospel passages that speak of the darkness/suffering/terrifying days that can expect to live through, and how through it all we wait for Christ who will come at an unknown hour to usher in the promises of God.

Advent 1: The days are coming…

Scripture: Jeremiah 33:14-16; Luke 21:5-19

While Jeremiah speaks of the promises of God to come, Jesus speaks of the terrifying times that must come first.  Jesus exhorts the church to be marked by two behaviours during terrifying times:  1) Terrified, be not;  2) Testify, you must.

We will see how Jesus does not want our fear to mute our testimony, even during times in which our safety is threatened.
