The cross of Christ saves us in that Jesus demonstrates that human obedience to the way of God defeats Satan and Sin. Jesus, apart from us, frees us from bondage; and now free, we have the capacity to obey him: rather than “grasping” to become like God, we “let go” to descend as a humble servant.
